Charitable Solicitation Registration in Indiana
Good News: Most nonprofits in Indiana do NOT need to register for charitable solicitation.
However, there are certain situations and specific types of organizations that may be subject to registration requirements. Review the requirements and exemptions below to confirm your nonprofit's status.
Indiana does not have a general charitable solicitation registration requirement for most nonprofits.
The filing agency is the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.
Governing law: Indiana Code Title 23, Article 7, Chapter 8 (Professional Fundraiser Consultant and Solicitor Registration).
Who's Exempt
Nonprofits using own employees/volunteers: Exempt from state-level registration
Scope: Nonprofits that solicit on their own behalf using bona fide employees or volunteers do not need to register with the state
Caveat: Local jurisdictions may still require local registration
